In the mid-1980’s, major changes were happening in the Consumer Package Goods (CPG) arena. Sweeping consolidation of manufacturers, distributors, food brokers and retailers disrupted the channel. To succeed in the 90’s, adjustments had to be made in selling into the market. The large well-funded players dominated the channel, making it tough for smaller companies and new brands to gain a foothold on the retailer shelf.
Consumers were changing -- demanding better tasting, natural, organic and more nutritional food. The small natural and specialty food companies that offered these products needed a champion to take them to market. Using his 20 years corporate CPG industry experience, Mike launched MJM Management in August of 1986. More than thirty years have passed. MJM Management is now run by Mike’s son Matt.
